I am planning to participate in the Queer Lit Readathon (from the 4th – 10th) and the Christmas Evil Readathon (all month). The covers should link to their Goodreads page. These are just my high priority reads (but still not a big deal if I don’t get to them).
She Drives Me Crazy I got on audio via Hoopla and is queer. Anya’s Ghost is a graphic novel I borrowed from libby. One Last Stop I also borrowed from libby as an ebook and is queer. The Ice Cream Man and Other Stories I also borrowed from libby as an ebook.
I actually decided to borrow a few books via my out of state library card with Brooklyn Public Library in NY because my library card will be expiring in January and they are not doing out of state library cards anymore. So I found stuff to specifically use that card for while I still can.
The Girl From the Sea is a queer graphic novel I have on hold (should have soon) from libby.
Melissa is queer and I own it physically. I actually bought it back when the title was the MC’s deadname, because I heard the author is genderqueer and heard other trans people love the story but I could not get myself to pick it up because just thinking about the title, dead-naming the main character, made me feel sick. I couldn’t understand why that was the title and yea, I couldn’t get past it. It has since been changed. So while my copy has the deadname I feel much better and hope to finally pick it up!
The Haunting of Hill House I own physically, same with The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena, Clown in a Cornfield and In the Miso Soup. Those 4 are for the Christmas Evil Readathon.
If I get to anything else it’ll probably either be via Kindle Unlimited or Magazines I subscribe to (so far behind), but we’ll see what happens. Oh and some Food Wars volumes to!
Of course I still wouldn’t be caught up but i’ve been struggling lately so it is what it is.
Comics and Manga
Saga, Volume 7 and 8 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples – Still working on my reread!
Monster Musume, Vol. 10 and 11 by Okayado – Still working on catching up!
Currently Reading
Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley – I’m in the extras after the story.
Cannabis Pharmacy: The Practical Guide to Medical Marijuana by Michael Backes – Recently got my medical card so I want to make sure I learn as much as I can.
Of course there is more I want to read (and might, it is a POP after all) but even this is a lot!
Stinetinglers: All New Stories by the Master of Scary Tales by R.L. Stine – OMG I can’t believe I actually got approved for this! I love R.L. Stine’s books!
A Little Pinprick (Rainey Paxton Series Book 1) by Paige Dearth – I absolutely loved 2 of Paige’s other books so I am excited to read this one!
Me and My Dysphoria Monster: An Empowering Story to Help Children Cope with Gender Dysphoria by Laura Kate Dale – Hello, Trans here. Of course I want to read this!
Saga, Volume 7 and 8 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples – Need to continue the reread for volume 10 in October!
Deep Trouble I and II by R.L. Stine – Working on reading all the Goosebumps books.
Do I think i’ll read all these this month? No. But I just barely got to one in July because of the surgery and everything. Also I think i have an infection at the moment from the drains I still have. Pray for me, seriously. At least 6 of these would be nice but we’ll see what happens.
Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley – I’ve been saying I need to finish the extras in this book for awhile now. And Frankenstein is my favorite!
Communion: A True Story by Whitley Strieber – Yes I did just read this a few months ago and yes i’m annoyed I have to reread it. I wanted to get to this for YEARS. I finally did a few months ago, and it’s the first in a 6 book series, and bam, there’s a new edition with extra information or something. Ugh. Yes I know, it’s weird to be complaining about this. But I wanted to continue the series not reread the first one. It’s an autobiography series and at least I was able to get this new edition of the first book on audio and it’s narrated by the author so that’s nice.
Cannabis Pharmacy: The Practical Guide to Medical Marijuana by Michael Backes – Until this past week I hadn’t smoked in years but I remembered how it helped my chronic pain and severe stomach problems. Not to mention I like getting high off weed but that’s not the point. My main reason for using it is medical. I finally realized NJ has recreational marijuana legalized now and I went and bought some at my nearest dispensary. I plan to go through the hoops to get a medical card eventually but at least even the “recreational” stuff helps medically to.
I’m going to try and relax and put less on my plate in terms of reading from now on. I want to do other things. Granted this month, July 18th, i’m getting surgery. I expect to be in the hospital about a week. And then recovering for at least a month. Because that’s what it was last time I had this surgery (colostomy hernia repair). So we’ll see what i’m able to do.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
This is the only book I *have* to get to. It’s my July pick for the The eclecticist of eclectic book club. I love octopuses and it sounds really good! It makes me think of The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery which I loved.
Now for the books I would like to get to but if I don’t, oh well.
Discover – May/June 2022 by Kalmbach Publishing Co., BBC Wildlife Magazine – May 2022 by Immediate Media Company London Ltd, BBC Science Focus Magazine by Immediate Media Company London Ltd, Philosophy Now – Issue 150 by Anja Publications, BBC Wildlife Magazine – June 2022 by Immediate Media Company London Ltd
Would I be caught up on magazines yet? Nope.
Saga, Volume 5 and 6 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples
I need to continue my reread already so I can read volume 10 later this year.
The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas, One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle
I really should read the books i’ve been getting in my BOTM boxes.
Monster Musume, Vol. 7 and 8 by Okayado
We’ll see if I can get to these or not. I still have a lot of catching up to do.
Why I’m Afraid of Bees by R.L. Stine
There are still many Goosebumps books I haven’t read yet, which is beyond unacceptable! This is next on my list.
Transformation: The Breakthrough by Whitley Strieber
I read the first one, Communion. This is the second book. A guy talking about his abduction alien experiences.
Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
I have been in the middle of this book since last year. I finished the story Frankenstein, my absolute favorite, but there are extras in it that I want to finish before October. Who knows if i’ll get to it this month or not though.
Stay tuned to see what I end up reading. Like I said, only Remarkably Bright Creatures is a given but the rest of them is what i’m thinking of at the moment. I shall see where mood reading/mood hobbying takes me.
My June TBR/POP. I go with POP because I don’t do a strict tbr anymore. Pop gives me more room and I don’t have to feel bad about not getting to something, it’s just a huge list of possibilities.
On my 30th birthday (i’m 33 now) I made a “40 before 40 list” that i’m still working on. I should be done years before I actually turn 40 lol. I am hoping to get to
Other things I would like to get to for one reason or another include:
The Mist by Stephen King
Why I’m Afraid of Bees by R.L. Stine
Archaeology – March/April 2022 by Archaeological Institute Of America
Philosophy Now – issue 149 by Anja Publications
BBC Wildlife Magazine – Spring 2022 by Immediate Media Company London Ltd
Archaeology – May/June 2022 by Archaeological Institute Of America
BBC Science Focus Magazine – April 2022 by Immediate Media Company London Ltd
I’d still be behind on magazines, but progress ya know?
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
This is my July Group read pick for my Goodreads Group “The eclecticist of eclectic book club“. I might read it a little early so I can be prepared and come up with things to discuss as well as the fact I should be having surgery in July, though that’s not until mid-July so I could read it before hand and all that, but we’ll see if I get to it a little bit early or not.

Yes, that’s way more than I can read in a month, and I have even more possibilities listed on my bullet journal pages! It’s not called a POP for nothing! So here’s hoping for a wonderful reading filled June!
Stuff i’d like to watch in June includes; I started The Skull Man on Hidive awhile ago, really need to continue that. Would love to watch Prehistoric Planet on Apple TV+. I have watched 1 episode of Make or Break, a surfing show, on Apple TV+ and really want to continue that. I also watched, on AMC+, an episode of Creepshow. I’d love to watch The Little Mermaid tv show, haven’t watched that actually, at all. Despite loving The Little Mermaid.
If I don’t watch My Little Pony: Make Your Mark before June I need to watch that. Also, Stranger Things! I have watched the first 3 Nightmare on Elm Street movies so I need to continue that series. Also need to watch Sonic 2. And on Discovery+ June 1st should be coming a show called Generation Drag that sounds like it’d be fun!
I need to get to my Sims 2 game but who the hell knows if that’s going to happen lol.
