What I am currently reading

Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley – I’m making progress on the extras.

Cannabis Pharmacy: The Practical Guide to Medical Marijuana by Michael Backes – Making progress on this to.

Slewfoot: A Tale of Bewitchery by Brom – I’ve read one chapter so far. I need to continue it.

What I’ve recently finished

Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor – 4 stars

Thought provoking and interesting. Not sure what to say though, but glad I read it.

Dracula by Bram Stoker – DNF

I give up. I read Dracula (all of it) a few years ago. I didn’t like it. I thought maybe i’d appreciate it more now, but I don’t. I listened to 2 chapters. The narrators are great, if you love Dracula check it out (you can find it on audible.com – has Tim Curry and a whole cast). I’m bored. I hate that I don’t like it, I LOVE vampires … generally. But this just doesn’t work for me. I really thought i’d be able to get into it but I can’t, I just can’t. I’ve loved (years ago, I need to rewatch it) the Dracula movie with Gary Oldman. I should just rewatch it.

What do I think i’ll read next?

I don’t know.

Other Stuff

I’m still recovering, from the surgery and I have a cold. My stomach is in all sorts of pain. My normal medical issues, fluid build up, still recovering from the surgery ..   1. What are you currently reading?
Kraken by M. Caspian

All the stuff I mentioned on my currently reading last week is still there but Kraken is what i’m now actively reading. It says it’s a gothic erotic horror with tentacle non-con. Right now i’m 40% of the way through. It doesn’t always make sense to me and the characters are varying degrees of annoying. There’s also a lot of typos. However it’s interesting and I want to know what’s going on. So right now I would say i’m liking it. Obviously i’ll know my full thoughts after i’m finished.

2. What did you recently finish?

Discover – March/April 2022

I’m still not caught up on my magazines but if I keep up this pace each month I will be eventually.

I also finally got all 8 chapters of my Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) fanfiction up! You can read it on AO3 Here if you want to and add it on Goodreads Here.

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I have no idea. Here are some things i’m looking at at the moment.

The Brightsiders by Jen Wilde
Coral by Sara Ella
The Little Mermaid (With Original Illustrations) by Hans Christian Andersen
The Little Mermaid by Walt Disney Company
Disney: The Little Mermaid by Editors of Canterbury Classics

Trans Wizard Harriet Porber and the Bad Boy Parasaurolophus, Get a Life Chloe Brown and The Brightsiders would all work for the neurodivergent author bingo board space. Coral would work for the mental health rep bingo board space AND it’s a The Little Mermaid retelling! And it’s Mermay, and I haven’t done shit for it (except watch the first Little Mermaid movie by Disney. I still have to watch the rest. I still haven’t seen the live movie or the animated tv show). And of course then there is The Little Mermaid stuff.

Does this mean I will without a doubt pick one of these? No, but it’s likely.

  1. What are you currently reading?

I am not actively reading all these but I realized last week, when I started WWW, that I didn’t actually tell you everything on my currently reading list on Goodreads. I started Feminist Theory because of a (free) online course i’m taking. I’ve read the first 2 chapters, definitely glad i’m reading it! I also started The Gay BCs of LGBT+ because of another course. I’ve read Fahrenheit 451 but there is extra stuff after it, history or reviews or whatever that I still need to read. Same with Frankenstein.

Vampire Magicka is a webtoon on webtoons.com. I’m not caught up but i’m enjoying it so far. I’ve read another webtoon by the same creator, Strawberry Seafoam, and enjoyed it.

Edgar Allan Poe, The Weird, and Lovecraft I haven’t read in awhile so they’ve been sitting in my currently reading for awhile.

BBC Science Focus Magazine – March 2022

Still very behind on my magazines.

Philosophy Now – Issue 148

I guess this will be next up in my attempt to catch up on magazines.

  1. What are you currently reading?

Philosophy Now – issue 147

I’m a few months behind on my magazines so i’m desperately trying to catch up! This philosophy magazine is … interesting. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I don’t, but that’s ok because I believe it’s supposed to make you think, not blindly agree with them all the time. Sometimes stuff goes completely over my head. They often talk in circles. But for whatever reason, I find it interesting.

2. What did you recently finish?

BBC Science Focus Magazine – February 2022

Like I said, trying to catch up on my magazines. I get this one from Kindle Unlimited.

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

BBC Science Focus Magazine – March 2022

I do also have an Archaeology magazine, Discover magazine and Wildlife Magazine (BBC Wildlife is through kindle unlimited) and i’m behind on everything.
